I was raised in the Atlanta, Georgia inner city. I spent most of my
childhood in a cotton mill village called Cabbage Town. I attended
public schools and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963. After
graduation, I immediately joined the Georgia National Guard and
received an Honorable Discharge in 1969. To further my education, I
attended DeKalb Junior College while employed.
I was employed by the Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company of Georgia in
1964. I completed numerous management and technical courses throughout
my employment. I earned an Airframe and Power Plant License. During
much of this time, I held a Secret Clearance from the Department of
Defense. My position for the last 17 years of employment was an
Engineering Test Supervisor. The Company had several layoff periods
during my years of employment. During these periods, I worked for
another airline company and in the construction business. I retired
from the Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company in August, 2005.
In 1999 my wife (Marie) and I started a lay ministry called One
Nation Under God. We have had 2 talk show radio ministry
programs. I am very active in my church. I am a Sunday School
Teacher, Usher, and the Finance Committee Chairman. I am also the Issues and Concerns Director
for the Fairburn Baptist Association. I am a volunteer at two of our
local elementary schools.
I have been married to my beautiful wife for 30 years. We have lived
in the same home for 29 of those years. We both had previous
marriages. Between us we have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great
grandson.
Growing up in a low income, alcohol ridden environment, has taught me
valuable lessons about life. At the age of 10, I was blessed to have a
great Aunt and Uncle lead me to the Lord. I cannot count the times that
knowing Jesus Christ as my personal Savior has brought me through hard
times. I joke sometime about having a Degree in Hard Knocks from the
University of Cabbage Town. As a child, I felt the pains of hunger, the
rejection from prejudice people, the waking up not knowing if the
lights, gas and water may be turned off that day. I have also felt the
love of my Christian family and friends. I have learned the principle
of delayed gratification. I believe the decisions you make today will
affect your life later on, good or bad. I firmly believe it is time to
restore our Christian Heritage in this great nation of ours.
Again, I praise God for the blessings He has bestowed on me and my
family.
